Bring your pH level back into balance

Bring your pH level back into balance

Perhaps the last time you heard about the word "pH" was in the classroom at school, but this term has quickly stepped out of chemistry and into our everyday lives. It’s more important than ever to understand pH and, more specifically, its role in holistic health and wellness.

What is pH?

Simply put, pH is a measure of the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution. Solutions with a high concentration of hydrogen ions have a low pH and solutions with a low concentration of hydrogen ions have a high pH.

The concept of pH is measured on a scale of zero to 14, with zero being extremely acidic and 14 being extremely alkaline. Neutral is the middle point of the scale, 7. If you look at many everyday solutions, they all have a pH level. For example, coffee and processed foods such as white bread and fast food are very acidic, whilst fresh produce such as vegetables and fruit are alkaline.

So what has this got to do with my health?

Research has shown that a constantly high acidic state in the body is associated with an increased risk for a number of lifestyle-related diseases, including conditions such as osteoarthritis. Our bodies are incredible and have their own sophisticated pH buffering systems that work to maintain our optimal pH balances by removing excess acidity. However, there’s only so much our bodies can handle.

Imagine if we are frequently eating processed and sugary foods, as well as lots of animal proteins (meat and dairy), leading stressful lives, drinking alcohol regularly, and not getting enough sleep....

We are loading lots of acid-forming substances into our bodies, causing them to work harder to counteract this excess acidity. Over-acidity can lead to various health problems, fatigue, and general aches and pains.

What is the optimal pH of the body?

Our bodies perform optimally at a slightly alkaline pH level of around 7.4. However, that doesn’t mean that every organ and system in the body has a pH of 7.4. For example, your stomach is very acidic in order to break down food, but your blood is slightly alkaline and tightly regulated at a pH between 7.35 and 7.45. Blood pH must never change because it is our life force.

This is why our bodies are so smart, working constantly to regulate their pH seamlessly and to excrete excess acid. But this doesn’t mean we can abuse that fact and think that they’ll always correct themselves. The constant strain and effort of clearing the acid overload is what can cause health problems down the line.

For our bodies to get rid of acid effectively, they need alkaline minerals like calcium, magnesium and potassium, as they are key elements in the chemical processes which the body uses to remove acidity.

How do I maintain a pH-balanced body?

We live such fast-paced lives that it’s difficult to keep track of how much acid-forming foods and drinks we’re consuming. Not to mention avoiding stress, which also raises acidity in the body.

But that’s what we’re here for!

Besides for eating a balanced diet, drinking plenty of water, easing up on coffee and alcohol, you can also include a glass of Multiforce into your daily routine.

Just a spoonful in a big glass of water will help your body to correct the imbalances of everyday life. Multiforce gives you a daily dose of calcium, magnesium and potassium which your body needs to deal with high acid levels.
